I have been working with the Cube (making it do its song and dance) and related technologies for nearly two years.
This is an IoT thing. But what we are driving and the place we are operating is not what most folks thing of as IoT.
This is about taking context (a person, a physical place, the capabilities of a space, and what is relevant at this moment in time) and tying them all together into a set of context specific actions (capabilities, events, controls - call it what you will).
The actions are relevant to this time and place.
One of the actions in the Cube is setting lights around the glass enclosure to red (the room is busy) or green (the room is available).
This sounds pretty simple on the surface. You hook up a Philips Hue then you link it in, then you send some commands. Actually, it is rather simple. Except one part that is not entirely obvious to most folks (that arent makers nor developers), and that is getting that first connection in the first place.
In helping to set the Cube up at three venues now, the Hue connection still seems to be one of the more complex things. Especially when you Hue is brand new (which of course it is at each show :-S ).
So, I have a little PowerShell script that will give you what you need to:
- create a valid user in your local Hue bridge
- get the information you need to connect to that
But they send you off to an API document to sort out the one critical getting started piece, getting connected. And then Philips hides their API guide behind a registration gate. Double whammy. Too much effort. Walk away.
Here is my script, with comments, to get you started.
And after you get hooked up, there is most likely enough guidance in this script for you to simply play with the Philips Hue API. ;-)
You can copy, save, and run this script and it should do everything you need.

The Kibbelaars, brothers and sisters of my father reaped the fruits of the revolution and ended up in nursing, education and became members of the trade unions. My uncle was the first black governor."

No, its not about taking photos of postage stamps, ha ha. Nor is it taking photos to make postage stamps from those images (although, now you can do that). Postage stamp photography was a term that was used to describe a proof sheet of photos which all looked alike. Before digital cameras, photographers printed proof sheets. If they were shooting with a 35mm film camera, there would usually be either 20 or 36 photos per sheet. If all the images looked the same, "postage stamp" photography was the term used because, well, it looked like a sheet of postage stamps. Of course, there would be minor differences in the images when viewed through a loupe.
I used to do headshot photography for models and actors. Sometimes just a tiny variation in one image from the next would make a huge difference. Back in the film days, it would take several hours after the shoot to develop and print the proof sheet, assuming you did it yourself. At first, a group of the images would look all the same, but when examined closely, some would really stand out. I didnt want to miss that one great shot, so I did some postage stamp photography, although after each shot, tried to get a change in expression. It did make it difficult to choose from so many good images. With experience, I knew when I got the shots that were going to be the winners. The more variations in the shots, the happier the clients. Instead of a roll of 36 similar photos, maybe there would be four to six of each look with a lot of different looks.
With digital photography, it seems photographers are shooting many more photos than they should. Many photographers are doing this because they arent really focused (pun intended) on what they need to shoot or dont know or understand lighting, composition, and/or how to pose, so they overshoot to hope they get that a good photo. After all, it looks easy, and your camera does a lot for you (focuses, exposes correctly (if used correctly) - everything can be automatic). So just point and shoot. If you want really good photos, you need to learn a lot more than just point and shoot. Youll need to learn composition, lighting, posing if you will be doing portraits, and about your cameras settings and lenses.
One setting on your camera is what format you want to shoot - RAW or JPG. I shoot RAW because if your exposure is off a little due to a mistake (Ive had my share of mistakes), its easy to fix. For example, maybe you were shooting this scene and aimed your camera at the sky and accidentally locked the exposure at that reading and got the following result (Ive seen many photos on social media that are exposed like this):
If that was a JPG image, you might not be able to salvage it. But with RAW, it may end up looking like this:
Back in the film days, and without automatic cameras, you had to make sure you metered the scene for the correct film, especially if it was Kodachrome. Years ago, shooting with my Nikon FTn and what I thought was Kodachrome 100, but was actually Kodachrome 25 (Kodachrome was a color transparency film and very unforgiving for the wrong exposure), I got the following result of a young woman (Purdue University online writing lab idiocracy notwithstanding) posing in a tree:

PROCEDURE AND CONDITIONS FOR GRANTING APPROVALS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF A PETROL STATION
A. APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Application for approval to construct a filling service station for retailing Petroleum produces shall be submitted to the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) giving details of the proposals and any information that may be relevant to the project. In addition, the following documents should be submitted along with the application:
i. Three (3) copies of approved plan showing the building existing or proposed on the site and the relation of the site to the roadways and adjoining property;
ii. A certificate signed by signed by the Chief Federal/ State Fire Officer, or by an officer authorized in that behalf, that the arrangement proposed for the prevention of fire at the site are satisfactory;

iii. A certification by the Area/Town Planning Authority for the construction of a Petrol Filling Station on the proposed site;
iv. A certificate signed by the divisional police Officer or a superior police officer in-charge of the police motor traffic that he is satisfied that the site and layout of the proposed filling station do not constitute an unnecessary traffic hazard.
v. Evidence that company applying is duly registered as a limited liability company by the appropriate Federal Ministry/Corporate Affairs Commission to deal in petroleum products as follows:
1. Certificate of Incorporation.
2. Certified True Copy of Memorandum & Article of Association.
vi Tax receipt and/or tax clearance certificate for the preceding 3years.
B. APPROVAL TO CONSTRUCT
After the above listed document must have been submitted, inspection of the site will then be carried out. �APPROVAL TO CONSTRUCT� will be granted by the Operation Controller/Manager (Department of Petroleum Resources), if the proposed sites fulfill the conditions stipulated in the relevant sections of the �Petroleum Regulations�.
C. LICENSING PROCEDURE
After the completion of the construction works, an application for a Storage and Sale Licence must be made to the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). Such a licence is granted after the station has been inspected and certified as being satisfactory by official of the DPR.
The following facilities must be provided at the petrol station before it could be considered for licensing:
a. Air compressor and air guage in good working conditions
b. Provision of water (pipe-borne /well-treated borehole)
c. Power/Electricity Generator
d. Well-stocked first aid box
e. Refuse container/waste basket(s)
f. Safety equipment or facilities
g. Toilet facilities and conveniences
D. INDEPENDENT MARKETING/SPONSORSHIP
All application for storage / sale licences may be channeled through a sponsor company i.e. An oil marketing company with which the applicant has concluded product supply arrangements. Sponsor companies may be any of the following: NATIONAL, UNIPETROL, TOTAL, MOBIL, AFRICAN PETROLEUM (AP), ELF, AGIP, TEXACO, OR any of the existing independent Oil Marketing Companies.
PETROLEUM PRODUCT MARKETING COMPANY (PPMC)/(NNPC) would enter into Petroleum Product Supply Agreement with a DPR Storage & Sale Licencee who intends to operate as an independent Marketer.
E. PUMP ATTENDANTS
All filling stations� pump attendants must be very well trained and possess valid certificates of competence obtained from an organization recognized by the Dept. of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

I�m on record saying Call Park is my favourite PABX feature, and its great that we have it available to us in Skype for Business.
�Parking� a call transfers it off to a �holding bay� where the caller hears MOH until such time as someone retrieves the call. If they�re left waiting too long a timeout returns it to the party who parked it.
In SfB you initiate the process by clicking Transfer, then selecting �Park the call�. All going well the call vanishes to places unknown and is replaced with a message to say �the call is parked�, and a special �Orbit� number you � or anyone � can dial to retrieve it.
Its utility eclipses that of a simple call transfer when you don�t actually know where you need to transfer the call to, or if you want to securely (or secretly) manage the process. It�s the perfect answer for a range of scenarios:
- The attendant can park a call for someone and then over the Public Address system announce who the call�s for and at what call park �Orbit� number they�ll find it.
- In the absence of a PA system anyone can park a call for someone, jot the Orbit number on a post-it note and personally seek out the recipient, thrusting the retrieval code into their hand.
- It�s a more relaxed approach to an �announced (supervised) transfer�: park the call, IM the recipient and type the park location into the IM. When they�re composed and ready to take the call they retrieve it from where it�s parked.
- Staff in open-office environments can use it to easily move a sensitive call from their shared workspace to the privacy of a meeting room. The advantage of Call Park over Transfer in this scenario is that they need not know the name of a nearby room or even if it�s occupied: just park the call and wander around until you find a safe space.
Parking a Call
The option to park a call is presented to everyone, even if it�s not enabled for their account or setup in the back-end. The visual indicator of the former is quite subtle. Compare the colour of the message in these two screen-grabs:

If you�re not enabled, the words �Park the call� won�t be clickable, and the mouse pointer won�t change when you hover over the text.
If you want to enable Call Park for this user, edit their Voice Policy and tick the option:
Note that once you�ve made and Committed this change it�s not going to become available to the user straight away. Have them sign out and back in again to trigger its activation. (They may still need to wait a while or do this several times).
Successfully parking a call will present a message like this:
With this window still open you can simply click Retrieve to be reconnected to the parked call, however you�re free to close this window and you or anyone else can dial #112 to retrieve it.
Call Park Fails
What if, having been enabled, your users encounter errors parking calls?
Cannot park call right now. Please try again later.
You might be puzzled by this message in the Event Log on your Front-end server:
Event 31017, LS Call Park Service
There are no more orbits available to park the call. Cause: All available orbits are in use. Resolution: Increase orbit ranges
You have enough orbit numbers, and there aren�t any calls parked at all:
Actually, as it turns out, you don�t have ANY Orbits on one of your Front-End pools, and users always park calls using the Call Park service (and thus the Orbits) of the pool they�re homed to. Because of this the problem may appear to be intermittent, although it will in fact be localised to an entire pool(s).
The fix here is a simple one: just make sure there�s a Call Park Orbit range in all of your Front-End pools:

It�s worth mentioning that TechNet stipulates �If the orbit range begins with the character * or #, the range must be greater than 100� but in my experience that�s not required. My three-digit range of only 20 call park numbers works fine. As always though, I suggest you follow the TechNet guidelines for any production deployment.
Call Park Retrieval Fails
If your users encounter problems retrieving parked calls, check you don�t have a �+� or other funky character in the �Simple Name� of any Dial Plans. I found this in Lync 2010 and it�s still present in Skype for Business 2015 v6.0.9319.277. Check my 2011 post �A bad Lync Dial Plan name will break Call Park�.

Updated 18 April 2014 If you go to Peru, you cant miss out on the shopping experience! From big department stores to markets to small mom and pop stores, youre sure to find something you love! Here are some tips that will help you out.
Bigger stores
When you go into shops with other bags or a backpack, you might have to check your bags. They give you a little number and you get your stuff when you leave again. You dont have to check purses. If you dont have to check your bags, then when you leave you will have to open them and show the security guard that you havent stolen anything.
If you buy something, they often staple the receipt on the outside of the bag. When you leave you will have to show your receipt and purchase to the security officer at the door.
Markets
Markets can be found in every town and offer a variety of goods from food, to clothes and furniture. Just make sure that your money is well-hidden and don�t bring anything of value to a market. Bargaining is done, just don�t expect a huge discount. Usually they will take a few soles off the price, especially if you are buying more than one.
Shopping in Lima
If you�re in Lima and want to find bargain there are plenty of places you can go to. For info about markets, check out Hitting the Markets in Lima. You can go to Gamarra, which is famous for its low prices, located in La Victoria on Prolongacion Gamarra. It goes on for blocks and people come from Chile and Ecuador to take advantage of the cheap prices.
There are buses that�ll take you there on Aviacion. The main area is block 6 to 9. Fabric can be found along block 15 of Humboldt and the 6th block of Gamarra. Imported fabrics can be found at Fanitex, Gamarra 661, Shop 114. Paruqe Canepa is between Prol. Gamarra and Huanuco, Unanute and Humboldt.
Take a taxi to get there and go in the morning. Make sure you put your money in different pockets and leave your purse at home. Also, dress down. Look below for more market options
- Arequipa around block 20 has lots of cheap clothing shops and opticians.
- Jes�s Maria. About a block from Republica Dominicana, Av Horacio Urtega and Av Arnaldo Marquez.
- Magdalena around the municipal market. Jose Galvez, Tacna, Leoncio Prado and Castilla
- Mercado Central on Abancay. ALso Chinatown and Mesa Redonda as well as El Hueco.
- Polvos Azules, in Lima on 28 de Julio, near Flores, is another possibility, however, the quality varies and it�s not the best neighbourhood.
- Polvos Rosados which is near Ovalo Higuereta is known to foreigners and Peruvians alike, but the prices are a bit high. A better bet would be to go across the street to Polvos de Higuereta, prices are better, it�s cleaner and there�s better lighting. There are also galleries next to Polvos Rosados, they�re located between Polvos Rosados and the Ovalo. Places to get manicures, pedicures, hair cuts and other spa treatments can be found in Santa Rosa, which is next to Polvos de Higuereta and the galleries next to Polvos Rosados.
If youre interested in Peruvian cuisine, try reading Peruvian Food and Drink. Wong and Vivando are two grocery stores that tend to have a decent selection of foreign food. If you cant find it there, try the places below.

Furniture
Parque Industrial in Villa El Salvador has hand-made furniture. Buses that go up Benavides or Tomas Marsano pass right by this huge market. It�s between Pachacutec and Sepradora Industrial Streets. The same furniture can also be found at Plaza Hogar on Angamos in Surquillo. Or else, just head to Saga and Ripley, they usually have a decent selection.
The place where you buy the furniture should have a delivery service. If you buy it in a department store, theyll use their own. If you buy it in a market, youll have to bargain with the beatup trucks. The price will depend on the distance and whether or not your place has an elevator. Theyll wrap your furniture in blankets to make sure it doesnt get damaged. Then you get in the truck with them and tell them how to get back to your place. If you dont speak Spanish, either write the instructions down or bring a friend with you.
More Tips
Dont forget that many shops have sales at the end of the season (August or February). Ripley, Saga, and Ace Home Center often have great sales. Some shops on Larco, near Ovalo Miraflores have good prices as well, though the quality might not be as good. Also check out the Yellow Pages and the ExpatPeru Garage Sale Forum.
Shopping Online
Peru has a huge online market as well. Though you wont be paying by credit card, instead youll meet the seller in person and exchange cash for goods. Never go alone to someones house. Dont go to bad neighbourhoods. And trust your gut instinct.

Selain itu, Panglima TNI juga curiga militer negara tetangga itu merekrut para perwira terbaik Indonesia. Kecurigaan itu disangkal militer Canberra.
Panglima TNI juga pernah menyentil rotasi pasukan AS di Darwin, khususnya yang berdekatan dengan Papua Barat. Reaksi itu wajar, terlebih isu Papua Barat masih sensitif.
Jenderal Gatot pernah berkomentar bahwa dia sempat menghabiskan 90 menit di pelabuhan untuk melihat fasilitas marinir AS di Darwin. Dia mengkritik Australia yang menjadi tuan rumah bagi marinir AS. Dia juga mempertanyakan perlunya pengerahan marinir negeri Paman Sam secara massal ke dekat wilayah Indonesia.
Seperti diketahui AS belum lama ini mengerahkan sekitar 200 marinir di Darwin. Namun, militer Washington mengklaim pengerahan ratusan marinir itu bukan untuk mengancam Indonesia.

All of a sudden logging in to my Google Play account was giving an error and I seemed to be locked out! Bad situation to be in � I couldn�t upgrade any of my apps � and I needed to do an upgrade because WhatsApp had expired � with error �This version of WhatsApp is too old � you need to upgrade�� OK, but I first needed to solve the error �Sign-in error for name@gmail.com�.
I Googled a bit, then a lot more but nothing worked - then I decided to try something out � I changed the language of my account � I noticed that it wasn�t set to anything. I logged in to my Google account, then clicked �Account� and saw the �Default languages�:
I changed it from �Select a language�� to English (United States): 
Then I tried to login on my Android phone and to my absolute amazement I was logged in :) No error, just logged in.
I could then switch to the WhatsApp upgrade warning message and update to the latest version � problem solved!
This is one of those out of the blue, accidental fixes that somehow worked� I was amazed and I hope this helps someone out there � please let me know by adding a comment.

The New York City Marathon hosts thousands of runners from all over the world, the dream project of the New York Road Runners and in particular one Fred Lebow, an employee of the Fashion District turned athletic icon. Find out how he launched a massive race in the midst of bankrupt 1970s New York.
ALSO: our guest host Tanya Bielski-Braham takes us on a speedy tour of the course, from the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Tavern on the Green.
A special illustrated version of the podcast on the New York City Marathon (Episode #68) is now available on our NYC History Archive feed, via Stitcher streaming service and of course on iTunes.
